Hamilton, Ontario – The Hamilton Tiger-Cats announced today that the team has signed import running back DeAndra’ Cobb as well as import receivers Aaron Fairooz, Drisan James and Marquay McDaniel.
Cobb, a 5-10, 196-pound native of Las Vegas, Nevada was selected by the NFL’s Atlanta Falcons in the sixth round of the 2005 NFL Draft after two seasons at Michigan State. In 24 games at MSU, he returned 64 kickoffs for 1,632 yards and a school record four touchdowns while rushing for 900 yards and four touchdowns. Cobb also spent time on the practice roster of the NFL’s Jacksonville Jaguars.
Fairooz, a 6-6, 218-pound native of Arlington, Texas played at Central Arkansas, earning All-Southland Conference honours twice. He signed with the Winnipeg Blue Bombers last season and was among the final group of players released during training camp.
James, a 5-11, 185-pound native of Phoenix, Arizona has played with the NFL’s Philadelphia Eagles, Oakland Raiders and Chicago Bears over the past two seasons. Before turning pro, James played four seasons at Boise State where he caught three passes for 96 yards and two touchdowns in the Broncos’ unforgettable 2007 Fiesta Bowl victory over Oklahoma.
McDaniel, a 5-10, 205-pound native of Virginia Beach, Virginia set several school records during his four seasons at Hampton including career punt return yards (1,907), career touchdown receptions (22), single-season receptions (59) and single-season touchdowns (14). He spent the 2007 season on the practice roster of the NFL’s Denver Broncos and attended the team’s training camp in 2008.
