In the hours leading up to last month's Canadian college draft - and even on the morning of the conscription process - the Alouettes turned down multiple trade offers, The Gazette has learned.

And Montreal wide-receiver Kerry Watkins was the central figure in all the discussions.

According to three sources, the Als were negotiating a three-way trade involving Saskatchewan and Hamilton the day before the draft.
