TICATS TAB KHARI JONES AS QUARTERBACKS COACH, FINALIZE OFFENSIVE COACHING STAFF

Hamilton, Ontario – The Hamilton Tiger-Cats announced today that Khari Jones has been named the team’s quarterback coach. With the addition of Jones, the Ticats have now finalized their offensive coaching staff.

“Khari’s knowledge and character will make him a tremendous addition to our coaching staff,” said head coach Marcel Bellefeuille. “With Mike (Gibson), Dennis (Goldman) and Khari on board, we’re excited about the talented group of offensive coaches we have assembled.”

As a player, Jones spent eight CFL seasons with the B.C. Lions, Winnipeg Blue Bombers, Edmonton Eskimos and the Ticats. In 131 career games, Jones threw for 21,383 yards and 145 touchdowns while rushing for 1,664 yards and 13 touchdowns. He was named an East Division All-Star twice, a CFL All-Star once and was named the league’s Most Outstanding Player in 2001. Jones retired in 2006 to join CBC’s CFL broadcast team.

Jones joins offensive coordinator Mike Gibson and receivers coach Dennis Goldman on the Black and Gold’s offensive staff while Dave Easley will return for his third season as the Ticats special teams coordinator.

Gibson was appointed offensive coordinator on December 10 after spending the past two seasons with the Saskatchewan Roughriders as their Assistant Head Coach and Offensive line coach.

Goldman returns for his third season with the Ticats after coming to Hamilton prior to the 2007 season. Last season, receiver Prechae Rodriguez was named the East Division’s Most Outstanding Rookie under Goldman’s direction.

Easley will begin his 17th CFL season as a coach in 2009. He originally joined the Ticats staff in January of 2007.
