TIGER-CATS ADD THREE DBs

Hamilton, Ontario – The Hamilton Tiger-Cats announced today that the team has signed import defensive backs Jermaine Mays and Calvin Carlyle as well as non-import defensive back Nick Kordic.

Mays, a 5-11, 180-pound native of Miami, Florida, played the past two seasons with the Toronto Argonauts. In 11 career games, the 26-year-old has recorded 17 defensive tackles, one pass knockdown and two interceptions. Prior to joining the Argos, Mays spent time with the NFL’s Indianapolis Colts and Minnesota Vikings as well as NFL Europe’s Berlin Thunder.

Carlyle, a 5-11, 190-pound native of Los Angeles, California started 36 of 48 games at cornerback with Oregon State before turning pro. He finished his collegiate career with 177 tackles (124 solo) and 3 interceptions. He has previous pro experience with the NFL’s Indianapolis Colts, Washington Redskins, Green Bay Packers, San Francisco 49ers and Baltimore Ravens as well as NFL Europe’s Rhein Fire.

Kordic, a 6-0, 210-pound product of Western Ontario was named a second team OUA All-Star after completing his senior season with the Mustangs last year. The 24-year-old was the Ticats fifth round (36th overall) selection in the 2007 CFL Draft and was on the team’s practice roster last season before returning to Western for his final season of CIS eligibility.

The Ticats also announced the team has released import linebacker David Lofton and import defensive back Sir James Delgardo.
