The Montreal Gazette has learned. the Hamilton Tiger-Cats May announce the addition of Marcel Bellefeuille to their staff. Bellefeuille was the Als' offensive coordinator in 2007, after serving as the team's running-backs and receivers coach the previous season. Bellefeuille, who couldn't be reached for comment, is expected to join the Ticats in a similar capacity.

Here is some back ground on Bellefeuille:
In his second season with the Alouettes, Bellefeuille becomes the Alouettes’ Offensive Coordinator following an extremely productive campaign as the team’s running backs and receivers coach. Upon his arrival with the Alouettes, Bellefeuille brought five years of experience with the Saskatchewan Roughriders, including three as Offensive Coordinator.

Under Bellefeuille in 2006, running back Robert Edwards broke the 1,000 yards rushing mark for a second consecutive season and finished third in the CFL with 1,137 yards on 239 carries. He led the league with 17 touchdowns, including 14 rushing majors. Two of Bellefeuille’s receivers, Ben Cahoon and Kerry Watkins, gained over 1,000 receiving yards as the Alouettes were the only team to have two 1,000-yard receivers.

Bellefeuille’s offences established themselves with the league’s best running game in each of his last three years with the Roughriders, gaining over 7,000 yards in that span. The Riders dominated the ground game under Bellefeuille, finishing first in the league in 2003, 2004 and 2005. The Riders boasted a 29-25-0 record over that span.

Bellefeuille’s teams have been in the playoffs every year since 2002. While he coached in Saskatchewan, the Riders participated in two West Division championship games. The Alouettes made the Grey Cup in his first year with the franchise. He has had CFL coaching experience at all offensive positions and his professional development includes NFL guest coaching experience with the Washington Redskins, the Atlanta Falcons and the Buffalo Bills.

Before joining the Roughriders, Bellefeuille had a successful three-year tenure as head coach of the University of Ottawa’s football program. Bellefeuille’s Gee-Gees won the 2000 Vanier Cup a year after he was named the 1999 OQIFC Coach of the Year. Before becoming the head coach, He served as an assistant for three seasons with the Gee-Gees from 1995 through 1997. Ottawa participated in the 1997 Vanier Cup, falling to UBC. Bellefeuille’s Alouettes colleague Noel Thorpe was on the UBC coaching staff at the time.

Bellefeuille made the jump to the university level following two different high school coaching stints in Ottawa from 1991 through 1995. He also led the Ottawa Sooners to a championship game at the midget level and served as head coach for the Crawley Raiders of Europe’s NFL Budweiser League in 1989.

Bellefeuille lives in Blainville with his wife Julie and their children Ymilie, Alexandra, Mathïas and Cédrik. He is a native of Ottawa, while Julie is a Quebecer, born in Gatineau.
