TICATS SELECT ZAC CARLSON IN CFL SUPPLEMENTAL DRAFTBlack and Gold Also Sign 2009 First-Round Picks Rottier and Brown
Hamilton, Ontario – Earlier today, the Hamilton Tiger-Cats selected offensive lineman Zac Carlson in the 2009 CFL Supplemental Draft. Immediately following his selection, Carlson inked a multi-year contract with the Ticats.
The Tiger-Cats also signed offensive lineman Simeon Rottier and receiver/fullback Darcy Brown, their two first-round draft picks in the 2009 CFL Canadian Draft, to multi-year contracts today.
“These talented, young players represent the building blocks of this franchise,” said general manager Bob O’Billovich. “We believe that all three players have the ability to make positive contributions to the future success of the Tiger-Cats.”
Carlson, a 6-4, 280-pound native of Winnipeg, Manitoba played three seasons at Weber State at both guard and tackle.
Rottier (pronounced Row-teer), a 6-6, 286-pound native of Westlock, Alberta was the first player selected in the 2009 CFL Canadian Draft. Rottier was named a 2008 first team All-Canadian and a CanWest All-Star three times while anchoring the offensive line at the University of Alberta.
Brown, 6-4, 250-pound native of Mississauga, Ontario was the sixth overall selection in the 2009 Draft. During his CIS career at Saint Mary's, Brown caught 27 passes for 489 yards and six touchdowns while carrying the ball seven times for 128 yards and a touchdown.
