TICATS SWING TRADE WITH RIDERS

Hamilton, Ontario – The Hamilton Tiger-Cats announced today that they have acquired non-import linebacker Yannick Carter, import receiver Brandon Myles and Saskatchewan’s third round selection (22nd overall) in the 2009 CFL Canadian Draft from the Saskatchewan Roughriders in exchange for non-import linebacker Sasha Glavic and the Ticats third round (17th overall) selection in the 2009 Draft.

“Yannick is an excellent special teams player and adds another quality Canadian to our roster while Brandon is a talented receiver who will compete for a spot in training camp,” said general manager Bob O’Billovich.

Carter, a 6-1, 212-pound native of Pickering, Ontario has spent the past two seasons with the Roughriders after being selected in the third round (20th overall) of the 2007 CFL Canadian Draft. The Wilfrid Laurier product has recorded 38 special teams tackles in 34 regular season games and helped the Riders capture a Grey Cup in 2007.

Myles, a 6-3, 190-pound native of Goochland, Virginia signed with the Riders as a free agent on April 17. Before turning pro, Myles recorded 70 receptions for 1,142 yards and 12 touchdowns over three seasons at West Virginia.

The Ticats also announced the team has released import running back Andre Callender.

The Ticats hold seven picks in this weekend’s CFL Canadian Draft, including the first and third overall selections.
