TICATS NAME BELLEFEUILLE INTERIM HEAD COACH
Hamilton, Ontario – The Hamilton Tiger-Cats announced today that Charlie Taaffe has been relieved of his duties as head coach. Offensive coordinator Marcel Bellefeuille will assume the head coaching position on an interim basis.
“Marcel is a bright, up-and-coming football mind, who is very capable of becoming a successful head coach in this league,” said general manager Bob O’Billovich. ”After a thorough evaluation, we felt that a change was necessary in the best interests of the Tiger-Cats. We wish Charlie all the best in his future endeavors.”
Bellefeuille joined the Ticats as offensive coordinator on December 19, 2007. He served as the Montreal Alouettes offensive coordinator in 2007 after a one-year stint as Montreal’s receivers and running backs coach. Before joining the Als, Bellefeuille spent five seasons with the Saskatchewan Roughriders – the latter three as the team’s offensive coordinator.
Bellefeuille also enjoyed a successful tenure as head coach with the University of Ottawa prior to beginning his CFL career, capturing a Vanier Cup championship in 2000.
