TICATS KEEP SETTA IN TIGERTOWN
Hamilton, Ontario – The Hamilton Tiger-Cats announced today that import kicker/punter Nick Setta has agreed to a new multi-year contract that will keep the two-time CFL All-Star in Hamilton through the 2011 season.
“We’re excited to have Nick remain with the club,” said general manager Bob O’Billovich. “Nick has been a strong contributor on the field, in the locker room, and in this community for the past two years and it was important for us to keep a consistent, high-performance player like Nick in Hamilton for the foreseeable future.”
Setta, a 6-0, 189-pound native of Lockport, Illinois, has been named both a CFL and East Division All-Star in each of his two CFL seasons. The Notre Dame product was named the East Division’s Most Outstanding Rookie in 2007 and has earned the Ticats nomination for Most Outstanding Special Teams Player in 2007 and 2008.
In two seasons, Setta has connected on 73 of 89 field goal attempts (82%) and averaged 45.6 yards per punt.
During the Ticats Week 4 game in Calgary last season, Setta tied the team record he set in 2007 with a 97-yard punt and would go on to establish the new CFL single-game punting average record with a mark of 64.7 yards per kick, eclipsing the old record set in 2002 by former Ticats kicker Paul Osbaldiston.
Last year, Setta launched Nick’s Kicks For Kids, a community initiative that saw him donate over$5,000 worth of footwear to underprivileged kids.
