CATS BRING THREE RECEIVERS TO TIGERTOWN

Hamilton, Ontario – The Hamilton Tiger-Cats announced today that the team has signed import receivers David Ball, Airese Currie and LaShaun Ward.

Ball, a 6-1, 200-pound native of Berlin, Vermont finished an outstanding collegiate career at New Hampshire with 304 receptions, 4,655 receiving yards and 58 touchdowns, setting a new NCAA I-AA touchdown record which was previously held by legendary receiver Jerry Rice. Ball previously spent time on the practice roster of the NFL’s Chicago Bears and New York Jets before joining the Montreal Alouettes in September of 2008.

Currie, a 5-11, 185-pound native of Columbia, South Carolina was selected by the NFL’s Chicago Bears in the fifth round (140th overall) of the 2005 NFL Draft. Prior to turning pro, the 23-year-old completed an impressive four-year stint at Clemson, where he earned first-team All-ACC honours in football as a senior and was also a three-time All-ACC sprinter. In 2003, Currie won the NCAA East Regional title in the 100m with a time of 10.29. Currie spent two seasons with the Bears before joining the B.C. Lions’ practice roster in 2007.

Ward, a 6-1, 200-pound native of Pasadena, California spent the past two seasons with the Arena Football League’s Los Angeles Avengers as both a wide receiver and a defensive back, recording 114 receptions for 1,775 receiving yards and 35 touchdowns. The California product has also suited up with the NFL’s Dallas Cowboys, Buffalo Bills, Washington Redskins, Oakland Raiders and Kansas City Chiefs.

TICATS ADD TO DEFENCE

Hamilton, Ontario – The Hamilton Tiger-Cats announced today that the team has signed import linebacker Tim Goodwell and import defensive lineman Alex Morrow.

Goodwell, a 6-2, 234-pound native of Houston, Texas played five regular season games and one playoff game with the B.C. Lions after signing with the Lions in 2007. Prior to joining the CFL, the Memphis product spent the 2006 season on the practice roster of the NFL’s Green Bay Packers.

Morrow, a 6-6, 270-pound native of Rohnert Park, California attended training camp with the NFL’s New York Giants in 2008 after a four-year collegiate career at USC.

TIGER-CATS LAND ALL-STAR GOODSPEED

Hamilton, Ontario – The Hamilton Tiger-Cats announced today that the team has acquired import offensive lineman Dan Goodspeed and a fifth-round selection in the 2009 CFL Canadian Draft from the Saskatchewan Roughriders in exchange for non-import offensive lineman Jordan Rempel and the Ticats second-round selection in the 2009 Draft.

“Dan is an experienced, veteran player who has distinguished himself as one of top offensive linemen in the league,” said general manager Bob O’Billovich. “His leadership, intelligence and aggressive play will make him a significant addition to our offence.”

Goodspeed, a 6-6, 313-pound native of Cleveland, Ohio was named the 2007 East Division Outstanding Lineman and earned a spot on the CFL and East Division All-Star teams in 2007 and 2008 with the Winnipeg Blue Bombers. Goodspeed started 57 regular season games and four postseason games over the last four seasons with the Bombers after signing as a free agent in July of 2005.

Prior to joining the CFL, the Kent State product spent time with five NFL teams as well as the XFL’s Orlando Rage.

Goodspeed was acquired by Saskatchewan in a trade with Winnipeg earlier on Wednesday.

Last year I was sitting With Ron Lancaster as Normal Picking his Brain to learn more about the Game. When He ask Me Tom what Are doing with all this info You have learned. I thought and did not have answer for Ron.

A Few weeks Later we found out Ron was really Sick and we all Know he Passed away.I told Danny Mac and Few others
I was going to Coach Football Again
This was to Honor what Ron had Show me.
The Ticats and the CFL have been Family to me .
It Time Pay them back by Game I love.
So This May I take my Jourey into Coahing Ranks in the BMFA.
I taking in my 1st Coach Cl inc in May and Really looking forward it .

Hamilton, Ontario – The Hamilton Tiger-Cats announced today that the team has signed import offensive tackles Todd Londot and Dan Oliphant.

Londot, a 6-7, 300-pound native of Utica, Ohio played four seasons at Miami of Ohio where he earned three consecutive All-MAC second team selections. The 25-year-old spent the 2006 season on the practice roster of the NFL’s New York Giants before he was one of the team’s final training camp cuts in 2007.

Oliphant, a 6-5, 315-pound native of Chatham, New Jersey signed with the NFL’s Baltimore Ravens in 2007 after four seasons at Colby College. The 25-year-old earned two All-NESCAC first team selections.
