Hamilton, Ontario – Hamilton Tiger-Cats running back DeAndra’ Cobb has been named the CFL’s Offensive Player of the Week and linebacker Jamall Johnson has been named CFL Defensive Player of the Week for their efforts in last Friday’s win over the B.C. Lions.
Cobb carried the ball 17 times for 167 yards (9.8 avg) and two touchdowns while adding two receptions for 27 yards in the Black and Gold’s 30-18 victory against the Lions.
This is the second time Cobb has earned a nod as the CFL Offensive Player of the Week, as the rookie running back was also honoured after his stellar CFL debut in B.C. in Week 2.
Johnson was all over the field against his former team, recording 10 defensive tackles, one quarterback sack and one forced fumble on Friday night. In just four games this season, Johnson has racked up 34 defensive tackles – the second-highest total among all CFL defenders.
Ticats safety Dylan Barker was named runner up for Special Teams Player of the Week after recording three special teams tackles and forcing a key fumble on a kickoff return in the third quarter of Friday’s win.
