TICATS NAME BELLEFEUILLE HEAD COACH
Hamilton, Ontario – The Hamilton Tiger-Cats announced today that Marcel Bellefeuille will assume full-time head coaching duties after previously serving as the team’s interim head coach.
“I’m pleased to make this announcement, as I feel that Marcel has shown the qualities necessary to lead our team as head coach,” said general manager Bob O’Billovich. “With our common vision, I look forward to working with Marcel as we continue to build this franchise into a perennial contender.”
Bellefeuille was named interim head coach on September 8 after serving as the club’s offensive coordinator since December 19, 2007.
“I am thrilled and appreciative for this opportunity,” said Bellefeuille. “I’m excited to work alongside Bob O’Billovich and the great core of talented young players we have on this team. This team is definitely headed in the right direction and will be competitive and exciting as we move forward.”
Before joining the Tiger-Cats, he spent 2007 as the Montreal Alouettes offensive coordinator after a one-year stint as Montreal’s receivers and running backs coach. Prior to his tenure with the Alouettes, Bellefeuille spent five seasons with the Saskatchewan Roughriders – the final three as the team’s offensive coordinator.
Bellefeuille also enjoyed a successful tenure as head coach with the University of Ottawa, which included a 2000 Vanier Cup championship.
