The Hamilton Tiger-Cats traded their 9th overall pick in Wednesday's CFL Draft to the B.C. Lions in exchange for defensive back Markeith Knowlton and kicker Ara Tchobanian.
Knowlton, a native of Elaine, Arkansas, signed with the Lions as a free agent prior to training camp in 2006.
Now entering his third year with the Lions, Knowlton has emerged as an every down player in the middle of the pass defence. He's been in on 67 tackles in two seasons and recorded his first two career sacks in 2007. Knowlton also had career highs in tackles, sacks, fumble returns and pass knockdowns.
Tchobanian, from Nepean, ON, is a former Ottawa Gee-Gees of the Canadian Interuniversity Sport. Last season, the fifth-year Engineering major set a team record with five field goals.
