Ticats Slap Mosca in the Face..

http://www.ticats.ca/article/cfl-retro-fans-invited-to-celebrate-stars-of-the-sixties
CFL teams have each nominated three players from the era. And, at a time when optimism about the league’s return to the nation’s capital is running high, three Ottawa Rough Riders were nominated by CFL Alumni in consultation with the league office.
The Ticats Failed to give Big Angelo Mosca a Nomination

They List had all Great Players Hal Patterson, John Barrow,Garney Henley
What Bugs me was Hal Patterson Was not a Ticat at 1st and Mosca Was .
Mosca Should have got Nomination
To me this Slap in the to Hall Of Fame Player

If Mosca was asked and He Decline that fine .

# 37 DB/LB Import Jacob Patek Hawaii

#71 DE Import Garrett McIntyre Fresno State

#77 WR Import Aaron Fairooz Central Arkansas

#84 WR Import Brandon Myles West Virgina

#96 DL Import Elton Patterson Centrail Florida

Chase Clement did us a Favor by Leaving ..

Quarterback Chase Clement pick up his Ball and went home
The Noole Armed QB who was system QB at Rice like Timmy Chang was at Hawaii
Could not cut it here and He Knew it

Read his NFL Scouting Report :
Weaknesses: Shorter than teams prefer for the position. Gets lost in a collapsing pocket. Runs a spread/zone-read offense, and must work on taking snaps under center. Arm strength past 20 yards is suspect. Looks to coaches for pre-snap adjustments. Winds up a bit in his delivery, allowing defenders to read his eyes. Needs to work on securing the ball when running downfield. Will take off a bit early and receive big hits as he doesn't slide as much as he should.

He is not a CFL QB
The Scouting Report Even Said it here look.
He Knew he could not cut it
so he left
He did the Ticats a Favor Leaving ..
That means one less we have cut today
Thank you Chase Enjoy Selling Insurance for the 20 years.

Great read from Spec Drew Edwards

Fans Thought from Ticats .ca

Here fan thoughts on day 1 :
"not much to report on Cobb. He didn't really stand out to me.

As mentioned, #34 Allard-Cameus actually stood out a lot more. #77 may have good hands, but his route running really needs some work.

Here's my take. My boyfriend and I went.

# 2-Currie was the absolute standout. He runs amazing routes, has good speed and can catch. Zemaitis could tell you how fast he is since he burned Zemaitis at least twice.

#18-Ball made a few good catches and also ran some good routes.

#11-Matlock (I'm sure he's heard every lawyer joke there is). Very intense. Good coverage and hits like a truck.

#37-Patek was a little shaky to start, but had a nice interception and some good coverage

#47-the other Chris Davis- looked good in coverage and can hit.

#65 Rottier-Great lateral movement, good hands.

#90 Bolden-Broke through on the weak side in scrimmages great off the line, good explosive power and quick.

#22-Got burned a few times by Currie, but after some corrections from Coach Hagins he picked it up and was quite physical.

#45 Matt Castelo, also big and quick.

#72 Manley II-Seemed shorter than I thought he would be but he's built like a tank. Pretty quick and powerful.

As for QB's Porter is still clearly head and shoulders about the rest. I was a little disappointed by Boltus and man is Glenn short..lol. It was fun to watch Khari put them through the paces. It looked like he was teaching them to dance. My boyfriend thinks we'll seem them on Dancing with the Stars in the near future lol.

I saw Siskowic and it looks like he's trimmed down some from last year. A few vets were there and Rodriguez has a pretty scary looking beard going on. :D

I forgot to mention Darcy Brown. He's much bigger than I thought. He had some trouble holding onto the ball, but he's strong and has some speed.
________________________________________________________________
BG, great recap on what happened this morning... Next time you go make sure you come over to the center field seats 2nd or 3rd row, usually seat 7,8,or 9 LMAO(where I always sit) and say hi. My self, OnKnight, and DiEhArD_CaTsFaN, all had a good chat after...

I guess I won't have to go into detail much after BG's post(she pretty much nailed it!) so I will just touch up on some stuff that really stood out...

Offense

#18 - David Ball - This guy looks like we might have a new stud receiver, and its only day one. When you look back at my post on who to keep an eye on, I said... "I'm looking forward to watching him haul in some crazy catches in training camp" you heard it here first! and I called it... lol. The catches he was making out there were UNREAL!! to say the least! His routes are sharp, his hands are like glue! and he adjusts to the ball(no pun intended) unlike anyone out there. I am really looking forward to watching him some more... He might make forgetting about JoJo being gone a lot easier, He is with out a doubt the best receiver in rookie camp so far.

#2 - Airese Currie - This guy is a burner! send him on a fly or fade route and he gets a good 5-8 yards of separation on anyone(rookies in camp).

As for Cobb, oski-oui-oui, he was running and returning the ball well. But ask him to catch it and there were problems... He was adjusting terribly, completely turning to the wrong shoulder. It was ugly... Sorry :(

Like BG said, the running back who was looking really good was #34 - Allard-Cameus, he seemed to find all the holes and made some very nice cuts and runs.. One run he pulled off a huge 15-20 yarder, you may say big deal, but keep in mind when the defense touches the ball carrier with 2 hands the play is over.

Oh and that Aaron Fairooz ....... Freakishly tall(6'6"!!!!) with very nice hands! It looks like he is jogging out there, but when each step of his is reaching about 3 yards or 1 of his steps are equal to 2 and a half steps for other receivers he doesn't need to run...

Defense

The players who really stood out to me were...

#11 - Melvin Matlock - He jammed this one guy on the line so hard the guy ate the turf and looked pretty embarrassed to get back up... lol.

#22 - Alan Zemaitis - After his little miscue(as BG so kindly noted) he went into lock down mode... in the scrimmage drills I think one receiver caught a ball out of a hand full of attempts. The other receivers either got jammed at the line really good or ended up face down with a ball whizzing over their heads..

#37 - Jacob Patek - He's listed as a linebacker but could easily play DB or safety... He recorded the morning's ONLY interception, and made a beautiful knockdown on a corner route by a slot receiver... He looks to be one of the early camp keepers...

Other Notables/Disappointments

#65 - Simeon Rottier - Very strong first practice! In the one on one drills he dominated a couple defensive lineman and had the coach screaming "That'a Boy!" and patting him on the shoulder pads.

#8 LaShaun Ward - To be brutally honest... I honestly do not know why he is even on the same field with these guys.. In the drills when told to jog/run back to their spots he was the only guy to walk back. In the scrimmage drills he was terrible, one play he got bumped fighting for the ball and he just quit and stood there as the defenders kept going all out for the ball. I was even joking with nearby fans that I would be surprised if he didn't even make it to this afternoon's practice... Thats how bad he looked...LOL. And we cut JoJo for guys like this... ok ok I will move on... :P

#71 - Garrett McIntyre - He was very aggressive and quick, very explosive.

Well I'm sorry I didn't go into too much detail folks but I haven't slept yet(worked all night) and right now I'm struggling to keep my eyes open... Also thank god for spell check because I would look like a fool without it right now LMAO.

Oh and one last thing before I leave........... David Ball was a BEAST out there today! He made some crazy good catches! lol.

Forget Morreale, we have a new 18 in town!!! You heard it here first...

Scouting Reports on our 2 Newest QB

Jason Boltus (QB)

Height:
6'3"
Weight: 225
College: Hartwick
Conference: Empire 8
Hometown: Baldwinsville, NY
High School: C.W. Baker

Combine Results:
40 Yard Dash : 4.83 seconds
Bench Press : 26.0 reps
Vertical Jump : 31.5 inches
Broad Jump : 111.0 inches
3 Cone Drill : 7.0 seconds
20 Yard Shuttle : 4.47 seconds

Analysis

Positives: Passes the eye test, with all of the raw tools to be an NFL quarterback. Good height for the position and strong builds in the upper and lower bodies. Can throw the ball 65 yards in the air. Strong enough to throw the ball while being brought down. Excellent zip on his passes with a tight spiral and is accurate on short to intermediate throws. Opens up his hips to throw a strong ball to his left. Has the athleticism to throw on the run, move within the pocket or get first downs with his legs. Generally poised on the field.

Negatives: Coaches must shorten his delivery, which has a bit of a wind-up, to speed up his release. Raw in terms of his footwork, reading defenses and anticipating throws. Waits until his receiver is open to make the pass. Thinks he can thread the needle into small windows that will close up at the next level. Ball sails when he tries to add velocity. Runs awkwardly on the scramble, holding the ball too loosely. Does not throw accurately on the run, failing to keep his shoulders square. Needs to let off check-down throws and get more air under red zone fades and throws down the sidelines. Productivity came in a lower level of competition, and he must get used to the speed of NFL defenders.

________________________________________________________________

Chase Clement (QB)

Height: 6'1"
Weight: 210
College: Rice
Conference: Conference USA
Hometown: Alamo Heights, TX
High School: Alamo Heights

Analysis

Strengths: Tough, savvy, intelligent signal caller who knows the ins and outs of his offense and makes good decisions. Some zip on arm strength for short- and medium-range passes over the middle and to the sidelines. Good touch on fades. Able to go through possessions and look off safety to open up space in the secondary. Generally poised in the pocket, has quiet feet and will throw the ball despite knowing he's going to get hit. Good mobility to get more than just an occasional first down with his legs. Throws accurately running to the left or right.

Rookie Camp Outlook By Gbonds

Read the Thread here : 2009 Tiger-Cats Training Camp Thread

Alright, so I thought I would follow up the rookie roster, by picking 2 players from each position and giving a couple reasons why I will be keeping a close eye on them come Thursday morning...

Quarter Backs

Jason Boltus - Boltus looks like he could be our most promising QB, outside of Porter of course. He is only 22 years of age, and has some decent NCAA Division III accomplishments under his belt. If Jason could land a spot on the practice roster or even better, on the active roster. With Kevin Glenn, Khari Jones, and even Quinton Porter helping him along the way, we could possibly have a future star QB just waiting for his chance to take over the team as his own.

Adam Tafralis - Now I know he is listed on the rookie roster but Adam is really only there to get in some extra reps. He had some game experience late last season, and proved he could move the ball down field, he looks to have great potential. I look for him to set the tone and show these rookies how its done at the pro football level.

Running Backs

Darcy Brown - He will probably be the guy I watch the most in the two practice days, mainly because he was drafted so highly and seemed to come from nowhere in this years draft. Follow that up by Obie saying he is a bigger faster and more athletic version of Jason Clermont is really saying something. If Darcy can prove he can block and run the ball well, we might have an amazing talent at fullback on plays when he comes out of the backfield.

DeAndra' Cobb - DeAndra' will no doubt get a shot at making the team as a return specialist. Cobb looks to have amazing break away speed and good vision when returning kicks in the video's I have watched of him. I think he might be one of the surprises come training camp, look for DeAndra' to contest with the likes of veteran back, Terry Caulley, and 2nd year back Tre Smith for a shot at being Kenton Keith's backup(Thats assuming Kenton has dropped the NFL weight and regained his past CFL form).

Receivers

David Ball - First of all, the main reason I will be following David Ball, is because he reminded me so much of Andy Fantuz when I watched his highlights from his college days. Speaking of his college days Ball holds the NCAA Division I-AA record for career touchdowns (previously held by NFL legend Jerry Rice). I'm looking forward to watching him haul in some crazy catches in training camp and hope he earns a spot on our active roster come July 1st.

Aaron Fairooz - At 6 foot 6 inches, 218 pounds, who ISN'T going to be watching how this kid does! If Fairooz can perform well in camp and earn a spot on the depth chart come game time we could possibly have a twin tower attack with Fairooz and Prechae Rodriguez, what a scary combo that could be. He was a late cut by the bombers last season and even scored a touchdown against us in the pre season. The receiver battle will be the most interesting competition I'll be watching in camp.

Offensive Lineman

Simeon Rottier - Well I think with being the #1 overall pick in the draft, you will attract a lot of the attention in training camp as well as during the season. He has the size to be an excellent lineman in this league for years to come, and he will have two of the leagues top tackles in the CFL to teach him the ropes. I think we all know Rottier will most likely be our Offensive Tackle of the future, but I'm very excited and interested to see how Simeon stacks up against the big boys in training camp.

Zac Carlson - Without a doubt Zac Carlson will be one of the players I'll be excited to see in action. Some "experts" are saying Carlson may have the advantage over Simeon Rottier, coming from a US college program where he has surely faced tougher opponents to make him transition to the CFL a lot easier. If Zac can constantly improve during training camp as well as during the season we could have a very solid Canadian lineman on our hands... Now it's just up to Carlson, in proving to us that he was worth that 2010 1st overall selection we gave for him. I think he will shape up just fine!

Defensive Lineman

Scott McCuaig - Scott could be one of the more promising young Canadian defensive players we have. He finished his CIS career with 27.5 quarterback sacks and 174 sack yards, both Canada West records... He was also Canada West’s nominee for the J.P. Metras Trophy as Outstanding CIS Lineman in 2008... and was named a CIS First-Team All-Canadian in 2008. I'm really looking forward to seeing how McCuaig does in rookie camp against guys like Rottier, Carlson, Bederman, and Daneau(who are all rookie Canadian O-Lineman). Then it will be awesome to see how he does against some of the toughest offensive lineman in the league, in Alexandre Gauthier and Dan Goodspeed.

Alex Morrow - At 6'6" 270lbs, I'm hoping Morrow will be an absolute force on the defensive line. Alex could be that "diamond in the rough" we have been searching for to shore up our defensive front. He just turned 23 and already has a professional football training camp under his belt with the NFL’s New York Giants. I am hoping Alex has a great camp for us and proves to be a solid force at the Defensive Tackle position along side Darrell Adams.

Linebackers

Jacob Patek - Jacob played safety as well as linebacker in college at Hawaii, so he may not be the ideal size for a linebacker, but from the video's I have watched of him he shows great quickness and superb footwork. He reminds me of another smaller but quick and strong linebacker, who is already playing for us by the name of Markeith Knowlton. We can only hope Patek turns out like the 2008 Eastern All-Star linebacker, Knowlton was for us last season.

Matt Castelo - Like Morrow above he also has had a professional training camp but Castelo tried out with the NFL’s Seattle Seahawks. What was even more interesting is Castelo also just turned 23 and on the same exact day as Morrow... Now I will admit I don't know much about Castelo, but what I can tell you is he tallied some serious numbers in college. Matt finished his collegiate career with 433 tackles (203 solo), 27 tackles for a loss, 5.5 quarterback sacks, six forced fumbles and one interception and started 40 of 43 games he appeared in at San Jose State. He could be an interesting find for Obie if he can crack the final roster or even make the practice roster and get developed over the season. At any rate we at least know the guy can tackle!

Defensive Backs

Raymond Wladichuk - Raymond is the youngest player on the Tiger-Cats roster at 21 years of age. He is a player I would like to watch closely, as I'm interested to see how he adjusts to the CFL speed and how he competes with the other DB's in stopping the speedy receivers Obie brought in this year. Coach Bellefeuille could maybe even try him at safety behind Barker and Beveridge. He could very well turn out to be a great young Canadian depth player for us this season. Oh yeah and his dad is also a big Tiger-Cats fan, so he already gets some brownie points from me. lol

Alan Zemaitis - If he can stay healthy throughout this years training camp I will be looking for big things out of Zemaitis. A lot of fans have voiced their opinion on Zemaitis's potential, some even saying he will take Lawrence Gordon's corner spot. Now I do agree Zemaitis has a lot of potential and could turn out to be a great defensive back in this league. But he must first prove he deserves that corner spot over Gordon before I will agree with fans and appoint him our starting corner. With all that being said Zemaitis will be one of the DB's I will be watching all through training camp. He definitely has the talent to be a starter lets just see if he can perform and stay health now to earn the starting role.

Printers Get Dished By Bombers

This was take From Mike Kelly Interview From The Winnipeg Free Pess

http://www.winnipegfreepress.com/sports/football/bombers/blue-qbs-must-adapt-or-perish-46538822.html

Can a QB fail QB U?

"Sure can. Every time a QB is grilled by the head coach in the classroom or steps on the field he is being evaluated. Kelly referred to a QB who attended their free-agent camp in Florida this spring and did not leave a good impression: "I can tell you this: there was a particular quarterback down in Florida who thought he knew more about the game than he did. He came off in a manner that wasn't conducive to someone who wanted to be part of a group. That's what I'm looking for: people who want to contribute and learn and help mould this whole thing together."

Asked if that QB in Florida was Casey Printers, the former CFL Most Outstanding Player, Kelly laughed and said: "I didn't say any names now, did I?"
