Ticats Cut Willie

Ticats release Willie Ponder

The Hamilton Tiger-Cats have released receiver Willie Ponder.

Ponder had 3 receptions for 32 yards in Hamilton’s two pre-season victories, but was held without a catch in the Ticats’ season opening loss to Montreal.
He spent time with the NFL’s Seahawks, Rams and Giants from 2003 to 2006.

Montreal Gazette reports .McCarthy joins Alouettes

Montreal Gazette reports that ...

McCarthy joins Alouettes

Mike McCarthy, a former general manager with the Hamilton Tiger-Cats, is expected to join the Alouettes in a part-time capacity.

McCarthy, who still resides in the Hamilton area, will become a scout for the team along with handling other player-related duties, perhaps even breaking down film on potential players Montreal's considering signing.

McCarthy, who has become a car salesman in Hamilton to pay the bills, was a Ticats' player-personnel consultant and adviser last season. He was approached to join the Als by assistant general manager Marcel Desjardins. Desjardins was the Ticats' GM last season.

CFL Preseason is not Long Enough.

After Losing to Montreal 33-10
It is time for the CFL to add another Week to Preseason for next year.
IMO the Preseason and Camp need to extend one more week.
Why Teams not being ready with Time Table so Cramped.

There just not enough time to evaluate talent in three Weeks
The Extra Week would only help.
The Ticats where not ready and it showed ..
They need more Time in Camp

so next year go to 3 Games in the Preseason

The 3 Game Preseason would see each Team face Each Division Rival Once..
is it work like this
One Year two Games away
Next year Two Games Home

(1) @ Toronto
(2) Vs Montreal
(3)@ Winnipeg

the Following Year

(1) Vs Toronto
(2) @ Montreal
(3) Vs Winnipeg

How did it go so Wrong? 10 Reason why we lost badly

Why did Ticats Lose so Badly to Montreal Let's Break it down
Here my top 10 Reasons we Lost and Lost badly

(1) No Pressure on A.C
The Two DT Hamilton Started are Too Small and They got no Pressure
The Ticats Used the Zone Blitz and it Back Fired!!!
A Vet QB Like A.C. Will Rip a Zone Apart.

(2) Lawrence Gorden
He was Owned by Kerry Watkins..
AC Picked out his Veteran Target Well
That CB spot is a Week With Gorden there and AC Proved it

(3) Penalty calls Too Many Flags = a Loss.

(4) Drop Balls and Fumbles you can't win if you don't hang on to the ball.

(5) Losing Guard Cedric Gagne-Marcoux The Oline got worse after he Left.

(6) Bad Coaches Decisions Handing the ball off on a 3rd and inches Deep in the back field will get you beat .

(7) Ray Mariuz at OLB he is Too slow to Get the play
They should have Resign Armour..

(8) No Good Half Time adjustments
Montreal just kept rolling

(9) Over Hyped by Managenment to sell Tickets ... They knew this team was young .

(10) Too Many Young Players For every new guy you will lose one game IMO

Not much right on opening night in Steeltown.

Not much right on opening night in Steeltown.

By Thomas Riddell BRG

You know it's going to be a bad night when

the F-18 Fly over screws up the National Anthem.
.

Then as The Team is hitting the field rookie half back Tre Smith leaves the Tunnel early ..
This cause the fireworks to be missed timed
It was a Vision of things to come.
As the Ticats disappoined every Ticat fan getting blowen out 33-10.

What else can go wrong?

I was afraid that you where going to ask me that .
Well the Flag Parade that Plagued Hamilton was back for one.
Turnovers 3 of them Killed us as well
Miscues and Laps of concentration by players didn't help aether.

It all Started to go wrong the 1st time Montreal Touched the Ball
As the Al's Drove down field with little resistance from the Hamilton toothless defence
But we limited the Damage to just 3 points

No big deal right we'll get it back Right and we started a promising drive
But Then the dumbest call on a 3rd and inches
I have ever seen in pro Ball happened.
you hand off to Jessie Deep in the back field and he is hammered for a loss.
this should been a QB sneak.. you don't hand off to that deep Backfield
with 8 or more in The box
This was just Plan Dumb With a QB Sneak it's a 1st down
Then may we drive for a least 3.

Montreal takes over on downs and drives down the field for 7
The lead Lead was now 10
Hamilton was now in Quicksand that now they would not Escape
This was the turning point of the game.

It was bad break after bad Break of the toothless Tabbies.
Printer Runs for a big gain Then Slams the football into the turf
He is Flagged for taunting
Ugggg............. This is inexcusable in starting QB
Then we lose Gagne-Marcoux for the rest the game
Dyakowski comes in holding got worse.
Woodard did not have good game at one of the tackle spot
He was Flagged for holding more then once.

Printers Had Scramble for his life all game..
Finally with less then a Min.
Printers and Pat Woodcock got us going .
with the 2 Min offence.
I did't think Woodcock should make the Team I was wrong
He was bright spot in the 1st half

The half time show was bad.. Magic can't be done in a stadium
I know I had problems seeing the Tiger From the North Stands .
On the Bright side there was a real illusionist There
He was on the field and his nick name is .A.C.
He me made Ticats Defence Disappear

You can't sit in a zone defence and blitz all night when you have an experienced QB Like A.C.
You have challenge his WR at the line bump them and go man to man
once in a while Mix it up..please.
all I saw was zone all night. A.C Saw it too ripped us good for it .
what do you think Toronto will do next week the same thing .

Now for Offence :
At the end of 1st half we went 2 min Offence...
It worked very well.
Why did we not stay with this coming out at half time
The Adjustments where Poor by Charlie and Marcel.
this would kept Montreal personal Changes to minimum
Allowing us to Gain some Confidence.

This was a poor effort for a Home Opener
All Round The Ticats Fumble it
From the Marketing Team to Football Ops.
So Turn the Page.. Get Ready for Our 1st Visit to Hog Town.

On The Bright side:
WR look better
QB look fine for all but 1 bad Moment
Kicking Game was good

Everything Else needs work if we are to beat Toronto
They can not afford to go 0-2
They must win big to get good draw for 2 weeks from this Saturday
When DJ Flick and Roughriders come to town.

And so here we are. The long-awaited season opener for this 2008 season, which we have waited for since the end of the 2007 season, is finally here. Will this 2008 season be different from previous ones for the Ticats? On this day, we hope it this season will be different from previous ones in that it will begin with a win. We have come to understand the importance of getting off to a good start. And it would be even more important for that to happen against a team the Ticats may be competing with in the standings this year. A new season is finally here, and having said that, there is only one more thing I have left to say... Are you ready for some Football CFL Style?

Preseason Game Report Ticats 28 Argos 21.

It was night of good and Bad In the big Smoke
Let break it down to
The Good and Bad

Also Remember
we went 2-0 last Preseason.

1st The bad
1st Pick over all Dillon Barker may be gone 9 WK 'Looks like broke his leg.
He got 1st play of game. The kid worked his ass off
It would be a Shame if we lost for him till Sept.
Now Lets brake the down bad of Game play..

1st Off Offence Tackle Spot : Charles Thomas dose not speed or Quickness to Play Tackle and should cut. Marko Cavaka Made Mistakes but was better of The Two.

2nd Defence Tackles Spots : This Still worries the Heck of out me ..
No Pressure and Argo running Was Slicing us up like Diced Peppers.

3rd QB Ritchie Williams : I don't know if this was just off game for Richie
Or the Argo game plan was Throwing in off
I love this kid and he'll still be #2 man.

4th Play Execution:There where lots Chances for Big Plays
The Ticats Failed to Make them when it counted...
They had to Fall back and use Nick Setta for 3's and not 7 .
This was Major problem last year .

Okay Now the Good .. We won 28-21

(1) The Secondary
: Looks to be much Improved..
But they need to Hang on to Turnovers.
They had Kerry Joseph Picked 3 times and drop each won.
But it is Something to Build on.

(2) DE's: Looked to be Top Form
They need need help form the Tackles and must Keep contain on QB Scrambling.

(3) Linebackers: Look Solid
I was very Critical of Ticats Not Resigning Big Dog JoJuan Armour
Maybe I was wrong They play very Will .

(4) Pass Catchers: What Can Say Most of Ticats WR and Slots played well.
This will a tough cut for Charlie

(5) Tre Smith RB What Can say About this Kid
But Welcome to Hamilton :)
Tre did it all Ran well and Return kicks well.
We must keep him..

Well See you all next Week for CFL and Home Opener at IWS

The Ticats depth chart is not available at the time I am posting this, but you can click here to being up the page where this depth chart will be.

Click here for tonight's weather forecast. Right now, there is a 30% probability of precipitation this evening and west winds of 15 km/h are expected. And at this time, it is expected that the temperature is expected to be about 17°C. So the dome will probably be open.

So now it is time for that final preseason game before the ones that matter begin. This is the one where those who will make the team prepare for the upcoming year and those who might not make the team have their last chance to prove themselves. Although neither of these two teams may quite be at their best, both will find a win at least somewhat important. A "meaningless" win is better than a meaningless loss. And there is no such thing as a meaningless game against the blue team. Will the preseason undefeated streak continue for the Ticats? Hopefully, it will, and so I say...

Go Ticats!
Thanks you Bob Young Fan for this game Outline.

Tonight will Tell the Tail of who make the 2008 Ticats as Players Battle for jobs.
As for Battles Here are some to Watch:

Look for Them at Right Tackle Spot :Cavka vs Thomas

Hoogies Trap in Elevator for 45 mins.

The Poor Hoogies ,
Following dinner last weekend, the O-linemen were once again traveling all together back to their rooms at Les Prince Hall, where they were about to have a different type of bonding experience, one they had no idea was coming.

“The funny thing about it was that we told the rookies to take the stairs because the vets get the elevator,” recounted veteran tackle Jonta Woodard. “Little did we know they would all have a good laugh at our expense.”

And so Woodard and Hage stepped into the elevator for a routine two-floor ride, along with guard George Hudson and tackles Marko Cavka and Charles Thomas. But what a difference 45 seconds can make.

CFL SEASON OPENER SET TO ROAR IN TIGERTOWN

CFL SEASON OPENER SET TO ROAR IN TIGERTOWN
TigerTown Unites On Opening Night

Hamilton, Ontario – The Hamilton Tiger-Cats announced today an action-packed event lineup for the CFL Home Opener, presented by Primus, at Ivor Wynne Stadium on Thursday, June 26th.

"It is a great honour for us in Hamilton to kick off the season opener for the CFL in what is always one of the most anticipated games of the Canadian sports scene,” said president Scott Mitchell. “It is a marquee event and we owe it to our great league and all of the fans in TigerTown to kickoff the 2008 season in an exciting and unique fashion. We have spent considerable time and effort in making sure this will be a season opener worth remembering for all CFL fans, and it is most definitely a 'must-see event'. From the newly created pre-game parties, to an unbelievable halftime show and onto the final whistle, there is going to be constant entertainment for our fans throughout Ivor Wynne. This is a new era in Tiger-Cats football, and we want to invite all of our fans to join us in TigerTown for the kickoff to the CFL season."

The game will also launch the CFL's ‘This is Our League’ campaign, which highlights the game's unique ability to bring Canadians together – a sentiment captured in a moving CFL produced video that will be aired in stadium during the game – and the season debut of the CFL on TSN, now the league's exclusive television partner and the new network of the Grey Cup.

"We are looking forward to a great season of football on the field, and a year-long celebration of our league and what it means to our country beyond the sidelines," said Mark Cohon, Commissioner of the Canadian Football League. "I know that celebration will get off to a tremendous start with our league opener in Hamilton. Bob Young and the entire Tiger-Cats organization are going all out to ensure it's going to be a very special night."

One of the highlights of the night will allow TigerTown fans to be part of sports history when they witness illusionist, former Las Vegas star and International Entertainer of the Year, Greg Frewin, perform an illusion never before attempted at a live sporting event.

"I am thrilled to head back to my hometown of Hamilton for the CFL season opener,” said Frewin. “On top of that, attempting an illusion that has never been done in professional sports is going to be exciting for me and for everyone in attendance.”

Comedian and actor Martin Short also returns to his hometown of Hamilton to take in all the excitement of opening night at Ivor Wynne Stadium.

"Some of the greatest moments of my childhood were spent at Ivor Wynne Stadium cheering on Bernie Faloney and the boys," said Short. "There’s nothing hipper than the CFL. I pity the American’s envy."

Other must-see opening night highlights include:

  • F-18 fighter jets and a warplane from the Canadian Warplane Heritage Museum will once again add to the roar at Ivor Wynne when they fly over top of the stadium moments before the opening whistle to celebrate Canada and its only truly Canadian professional sports league, the Canadian Football League.

  • The electrifying new Ticats team intro when pyrotechnics, a new opening animation and exciting and energetic displays all culminate to lead the 2008 Ticats on to the field in dramatic fashion

  • A stunning, brand new line of Ticats merchandise will be available to fans in four beautiful new kiosks located throughout the stadium

  • The 2008 Ticats Cheerleaders, presented by The London Tap House, unveil the 2008 team in their brand new uniforms.

This and so much more will be sure to make Thursday, June 26th a night to remember.

Fans are encouraged to arrive early as the excitement gets underway when the gates open at 5:30pm for all the pregame festivities. The revamped Pepsi Pre-game area and brand new Carling Zone will host live bands and interactive games and contests for fans to take in prior to the game.

For tickets and information, fans can log on to www.ticats.ca or call 905-547-CATS.

Are Blackout Comming to Tigercat Games??

In a Interview With Ken Peters From Hamilton Spec .
Club president Scott Mitchell of Ticats
Said they may black out Two games in July and one in August.

He also Said The Team will be giving away less Tickets This year.
They Hope this will bring the Ticats Back to Profitability

If they go ahead with the Blackouts and Less Tickets Being Given away
IMO it will Back fire..
They have already lost Roughly 1500 Season Ticket holders From 1650 down 1500.
Since The Team has Not Release Season Ticket Numbers know one knows for sure.

They also Pushed Up Ticket Prices on areas of the Stadium
They Where in Sec 7 and 26 also Boxes I C and D
This Caused a lot of People to leave Areas they had Seats in for years.
Some People Moved to news Seats .
Some Walked away from IWS for now
Some Stayed and paid the Price increase

It has Caused a Major Reft will a lot of Fans
The Price increases would have been better Severed with a Winning Team.
This team has not made the Playoffs in 3 years.
IMO they already Pissed off Fans Enough
The Blackouts and less Free Tickets will push more people away
from a Already Emptying Stadium

Every year Since Bob Young Brought the Team
Attendance has been on a Slide Since His 1st year as Owner..
After a Three year Honey moon with Fans..
Bob the Honey Moon is Over...
Some Fans Want A Divorce

If the Blackouts Become and Every Game Event
Look for more people to walk away.. From The Ticats and the CFL .
When you Play with Fire Sometimes you get Burned..

If I where Timmy Chang I'd be asking for my Release or to be traded.

Timmy Chang has not got a Prayer to make the Hamilton Ticats this season now..
After the Tigercats Signed Former Florida Gator QB Chirs Leak
The Ticats have had Leak on thier Neg list for a few years now.
He wanted to continue to playing Stateside
So He Sign with AAFL but that league died before it 1st game.
Leaks Agent Try to get some work in the NFL But no one want him.

So as a Last Resort Leak Signed with us .. Meaning Poor Timmy Chang is Toast..
With Porter lighting it up and now Leak in the Mix ..
If I where Timmy I'd go to Obie and asked be Traded or Released now
So He could look for a Job Else where in the CFL or Return to Hawaii to be with his young Family.

The Battle for 3rd in Hamilton Is Between Porter and Leak IMO.
I Like Porter Better cause of his Height Advantage
It nearly 1 ft. 5'10 to 6'5 over Leak also Porter has been here all Camp.
Leak is no Doug Fluite ..but he is a Good Prospect.
But with him Comming in so late to Camp
Imo He is Practice roster guy for a little while.
